Control
As everyone should be aware FBU members within HFRS Fire Control are going through a period of great change. Although the ‘threat’ of Regionalisation has been hanging over our heads for several years now the cut-over projections of May 2011 are looming ever closer.Hants Control is scheduled to be in the 2nd tranche of Regionalisation, with the South West being in the 1st tranche and due to cut over next year. As you can imagine we are keeping a keen eye on what is developing within the South West and are pleased to report that the FBU are doing a fantastic job in supporting and protecting their South West members. Their hard work is ongoing and much more information can be found on the FBU web-site under Campaigns: Out of Control.
Due to staff retirement/transfers/leavers there has recently been a Control recruitment process; this is still ongoing with new starters looking to commence their new posts early this summer.
Due to a very uncertain future other Control Rooms throughout the Region are suffering decreasing staffing levels and lack of knowledge due to leavers and temporary staff being employed to fill the gaps. So far we are fortunate that Hants Control staff have remained in post, they may feel fortunate in the fact that should Regionalisation go ahead they have all been offered a guaranteed role within the Regional Control Centre, although at this stage shift patterns, salaries, terms and conditions etc have not been discussed.
Hants Control members are also currently involved in the Rank to Role process, with the FBU playing a large part in that process and I would like to take this opportunity in thanking Conrad Jordan for his invaluable help, support and advice.
Although there appears to be a large delay in official letters to Control members on outcomes (they have been waiting for HR to deliver for almost 4 months now!!) Hopefully the process is nearing completion.
All in all and un-settling time for our control Room staff and we would like to thank those of you that offer your continued support in appreciation of the hard work and professionalism we continue to maintain throughout these uncertain times.
If you have any questions regarding any of the above then please do not hesitate to contact us.
